Carbon brushes and brush holders for textile mill motors

Textile mills run a very large number of small and medium motors — ring frames, simplex and speed frames, looms, humidification plant and blow room drives. The individual motors are not large, but there are hundreds of them, and their brushes are consumed on a predictable cycle. What a textile mill needs is not exotic engineering; it is the same brush, in the same grade, arriving in the same size every single time.

That batch-to-batch consistency is what we build for. We manufacture carbon brushes in electro-graphite and metal-graphite grades with the exact lead length and terminal type your holders take, along with the brush holders themselves, and washable air filter panels for the motor and panel ventilation that cotton fly clogs so quickly.

Where our parts are used in textile mills

  1. 01

Ring frame and speed frame motors

Carbon brushes in matched grades with fork, spade or slotted terminals sized to the existing holders.

  2. 02

    Loom and warping drives

Brushes and single or twin brush holders with correct spring pressure for steady contact.

  3. 03

    Humidification and blow room fans

Slip ring motor brush gear and holders for the larger fan and compressor drives.

  4. 04

    Panel and motor ventilation

Washable air filter panels with wire mesh guards that trap cotton fly before it reaches the windings.

What these parts have to survive

  • Cotton fly and lint pack into brush boxes and block free brush movement
  • Humidified air raises the risk of contact corrosion on terminals and holder hardware
  • Large fleets of identical motors make dimensional consistency across a batch the deciding factor
  • Short changeover windows mean replacement parts must fit without any filing or fitting work

Made to your sample

Send the worn part or a dimensioned drawing and we manufacture a replacement to the same sizes — no re-machining at your end. Manufacturing in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh since 1995.

Answers

Textile Mills — common questions

Can you supply the same carbon brush repeatedly for a large mill fleet?

Yes — repeat batch supply is the normal pattern for textile customers. Once we have made a brush to your sample, the grade, dimensions, lead and terminal are held for repeat orders so every batch fits the same holders.

Do brush holders need replacing as well as brushes?

Often, yes. Once the brush box wears oversize or the spring loses tension, a new brush will chatter and wear quickly. If brush life has dropped, it is worth sending a holder along with the brush sample.

What can be done about cotton fly clogging motor filters?

Washable pleated media behind a wire mesh guard is the practical answer — the panel is removed, cleaned and refitted rather than discarded. We make these panels and housings to your measured sizes.
