Railway machines see duty cycles that few industrial motors match: repeated acceleration under full load, regenerative and rheostatic braking, constant vibration and wide temperature swings. Traction motors, auxiliary machines, alternators and coach equipment all depend on brushes and, on DC machines, on commutators in good condition.
We manufacture DC commutators from hard-drawn silver-bearing electrolytic copper with mica insulation, heat-seasoned and mirror-turned, together with carbon brushes in matched grades and brush holders that maintain pressure under vibration. Parts are built to the sample or drawing supplied, in the sizes and terminal styles the existing brush gear takes.

Which brush grades suit railway traction duty?
Traction machines generally use electro-graphite grades chosen for their commutating ability under heavy current. Because grade selection depends on the specific machine, we match what is already running successfully in your equipment rather than substituting.
Can brushes be supplied with twin leads and specific terminals?
Yes. Single or twin flexible braided copper leads with fork, spade, slotted or ring terminals are all made to your sample or specification.
